You Are Not Alone
If you are experiencing the loss of a loved one, your Congregation Kol Ami community is here to support you with compassion, tradition, and care. In times of grief, community and ritual can offer comfort, meaning, and a path toward healing.
Rabbi Reznick is available to offer pastoral care and spiritual guidance, along with help navigating Jewish mourning practices. Whether you need assistance planning a funeral or memorial, or simply someone to talk to, we are here for you.
Kol Ami is a judgement-free community. We welcome all people, including interfaith families and people who have chosen Judaism.
How We Support You:
- Clergy guidance for funerals, shiva, and mourning rituals
- Grief support resources and referrals
- Memorial and funeral planning
- Community recognition of your loved one’s name
Honoring Loved Ones in Community:
At Kol Ami, we hold space to remember those we’ve lost:
- During weekly Friday night services, we recite the names of those whose yahrzeit (anniversary of their passing) fall that week
- At Yizkor services throughout the year, we join in sacred memory together
- Our Annual World AIDS Day Shabbat, honoring those who we have lost to AIDS.
Enduring Memory at Kol Ami:
You may choose to honor your loved one through a dedication or naming opportunity:
- A Yahrzeit plaque on our memorial wall
- A page in our annual Yom Kippur Yizkor Scroll
- A leaf on our Pet Memorial Tree, honoring our beloved four-legged family members
- Sponsoring a Friday night oneg in memory of a loved one
